This course is designed specifically lor professional guides, private
boaters, fish and game personnel, and others who work or play on or
around flowing water. Students will benefit from this intensive, hands-on
course and will learn to use techniques and simple equipment to assess
and perform river rescues. Presented in a two and a half or three-day
format (depending on each group's level of water experience), this course
focuses on real problems that students may face. The emphasis is on
speedy, low-tech, and improvised rescue techniques that are effective and
require minimal equipment.

Whitewater Rescue Technician 2
This two-day course builds on the skills learned in either SRT1 or WRT.
The WRT2 course concentrates on further developing advanced water
rescue skills, including managing the rescue scene, litter management and

Technical Animal Rescue
This three-day course teaches students how to rescue animals without
becoming victims. Subjects covered includes rescuer safety, equipment.
animal behavior in rescues; basic first-aid for animals; communication
techniques during emergencies and how to use ropes to maneuver a boat
safely to the victim.

Ice Rescue Technician
This three-day course teaches students rescuer safety skills; self-rescue
techniques; pre-planning for and size-up of ice rescue incidents; and rope
skills. Ice Rescue Technician meets the requirements for ice rescue under
the water section ofNFPA 1670. Specialty equipment unique to ice rescue
is presented. This course also provides students with an understanding of
ice properties, formations, types, and hazards.
